10g (or Oracle 10g) is a new version of database management system. The Oracle Database 10g is a relational database management system (RDBMS) produced and marketed by Oracle Corporation. The specialty of this new version is the inclusion of grid computing capability, represented by `g` in the name 10g. Every database being very vital to the organization maintaining it, needs to be administrated very well, hence making Database Administration (or DBA), a very vital role. DBA 10g thus means Oracle 10g database administration.

The term 10g DBA is often used for 10g Database Administrator, which represents a person or a group of people responsible for creation and maintenance of an Oracle 10g Database. Oracle Corporation offers a certification programme for DBAs under which a DBA can appear for an examination to test his DBA skills. Along with other versions of Oracle database administration, this certification programme is also available for Oracle 10g Database Administration. There are three levels in 10g certification: Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, and Oracle Certified Master. The certification program begins with the Associate level (OCA), which recognizes achievement in mastering introductory 10g DBA skills. The Professional level (OCP) recognizes achievement in mastering intermediate and advanced Oracle 10g DBA skills. And the Master level (OCM) is the highest credential an Oracle 10g professional can earn, and recognizes achievement in mastering advanced skills.
